The Great Hall in Hogwarts Castle is the main gathering area in the school. Students eat their meals, receive daily owl post, and have certain special events here. The Great Hall is a large hall that can easily hold all of the schools students, staff, and guests. It has tall walls that reach up to the ceiling, which is covered with candles and enchanted to look like the sky above. At the front of the hall, is the staff table, which is designed to house the entire Hogwarts staff. The highlight of the table is the throne-like chair in the centre of the table where the current Headmaster or Headmistress sits. To the left of the table is a door which leads down a spiral staircase to the Trophy Room.

Other Uses
Welcome Feast
The Welcoming Feast is a traditional part of the school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, held in the Great Hall. Held on the first night following the arrival of the students on the Hogwarts Express, the Welcoming Feast is notable for including the Sorting of all new students into their houses.
Dueling Club
A Duelling Club was started by Professor Lockhart when the Chamber of Secrets was opened, during the 1992–1993 school year. He was given permission to teach students how to duel, in an attempt to help them learn to protect themselves. Lockhart was joined by Professor Snape, who worked as his assistant.
Halloween Feast
The Halloween Feast at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry occurs on the 31st October every year. Usually the Halloween Feast is festooned with sweets-filled pumpkins, bats, orange streamers, water snakes and all sorts of Halloween-related decorations. There is usually some entertainment at the end, this may be by the Hogwarts Ghosts who pop out of the walls and do formation gliding. It's an highly anticipated feast which most Hogwarts students look forward to every year.
Yule Ball
The Yule Ball is a tradition of the Triwizard Tournament, though not regularly held at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It is a formal dance held on Christmas night of a tournament year, and is opened by the tournament champions and their partners. At Hogwarts, where the Yule Ball was held in 1994, only students of fourth year or above were permitted to attend, though younger students could also go if an older student invited them to accompany them. The ball begins at 8:00 p.m. and ends at midnight.
Christmas Feast
The Christmas feast is held on Christmas Day. It is attended by the teachers and any students that have chosen to remain at Hogwarts over the Christmas Holidays. The feast is prepared by the House-elves in the kitchens, and consisted of a hundred fat, roast turkeys, mountains of roast and boiled potatoes, platters of fat chipolatas, tureens of buttered peas, silver boats of thick, rich gravy and cranberry sauce. For desert flaming Christmas puddings were served, with silver sickles hidden within the pudding.
Apparation Lessons
Apparition is an optional twelve-week class offered at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for, as its name suggests, learning how to Apparate. The class begins shortly after the Christmas Holidays and is offered to students who are seventeen, or who will turn seventeen during the school year, and costs twelve Galleons. It was taught by Ministry of Magic employee Wilkie Twycross in 1997.
O.W.L.s & N.E.W.T.s
An O.W.L. (Ordinary Wizarding Level) is a subject-specific test taken during Hogwarts students' Fifth year, administrated by the Wizarding Examinations Authority. The score made by a student on a particular O.W.L. determines whether or not he or she will be allowed to continue taking that subject in subsequent school years. During these examinations a giant clock face and a huge swinging pendulum are placed at the far end of the hall in order for students and examiners to keep an eye on the time. N.E.W.T.s (Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests) are subject-specific exams that seventh-year wizards and witches at Hogwarts take to help place them in a position at the Ministry of Magic. As not all wizards pass or even take the N.E.W.T.s, they can find other jobs using their O.W.L. results.
End of Year Feast[/b]
The End-of-Term Feast (or Leaving Feast) is a traditional part of the School Year at Hogwarts, held in the Great Hall. It occurs on the last night of the term; the Feast is notable for including the awarding of the House Cup to the house with the highest points.

Iris walked in, a pile of books in her hands, and stumbled to her table. She was wearing a normal black robe, one layer darker than the other, and her hair was in its normal and weird style. The glasses she wore were on the bridge of her nose and she was doing her best to keep them on her face as she walked. For the most part the room was empty but that didn't matter, what mattered was that the Ravenclaw table was empty. Everyone was out since classes were almost over and most of the students were getting ready to go back home. Iris had no home to go to. Her mother was staying at the Order by now, thankfully Rose talked to Professor Lennald and got her to safety, and Iris agreed not to stay there for the break. If Scorpius was going she didn't know, he hadn't told her yet-which wasn't very fair since today would have been their last day together for a few weeks if he did leave- either way she hoped to see him before everyone left. For now, however, Iris started studying. The books were taken from the library and were about the past Wizard Wars. She needed to learn more about the past Dark Lord and to see if he could still be alive some how. Something was going on, she knew that and she wasn't going to rest until she knew exactly what it was. Diving into her studies, Iris began to fade from reality and didn't notice anything around her.

Della had entered in the Great Hall. After her trip, she had grown a little hungry and quite thirsty. She looked around before sitting in an empty seat of a table at the Hufflepuff House, where she seemed to be sorted into. While sitting, she was reading a book on brooms and flying. She loved to fly, but still needed practice in it.

Iris was half way through one book, third way through another, and had just opened a third. All three were in front of her and she seemed to be reading them over and one another. A quill was in her hand and kept brushing against the books one by one as she changed which one she went to. Her mind was darting from her studies to Scorpius again but that didn't seem to be very important at the moment so she pushed the thoughts away. Grabbing an apple from in front of her, she ate as she read, still in her own little world.

Lysander opened the doors and slid in with Rose. he had her in his arms, hugging her close to his body as he walked behind her and kept his head on hers. Looking around he finally found Iris sitting alone with her books. Walking with rose over to the girl, he noticed she put them away as soon as she noticed someone going near the table. He didn't ask nor thought Rose noticed but there was something odd about that.

Rose hadn't noticed for her eyes were closed as she did what she loved to do when she was in his arms or his lap. She pressed her ear to his chest and just listened to his heartbeat and his breathing. A gentle sigh escaped as she was lulled into happiness. "hello Iris," she said when they stopped moving. She giggle a little, blushing at the stares they got.

Iris chuckled instead of saying hello. She let Lysander and Rose say their goodbyes, he slipping from the room quickly there after, before she finally spoke. "Hello there! How have you been? Plans for the break?" She asked with a grin as she turned toward her friend. The area was mainly empty, everyone else already gone or off packing. She missed her mother terribly and wished she could go see her but...it was just...useless she supposed. Not wanting to think about it, Iris just kept smiling.

"I'm staying behind this break. And your plans?" she asked happily, picking up something, whatever she could reach, to much on. "I can't wait 'till Christmas, you'll love the gift I got you!" She squeeled a little, excited or it already. She glanced around, people floating in and out but not many at all. "The Great Hall seems rather empty this afternoon," she said lightly.

"Me? I'm staying here too so we can hang out!" She laughed slightly and took a piece of bread to munch on. "And you'll love my gift too! So how are you and Lysander?" She smiled pleasantly at her friend.

Rose smiled happily, though she blushed a little. "We're wonderful. He said he's got something he wants to talk to me about later, in few days I guess. He's going to meet with Lorcan." She shrugged, taking a piece of fruit. "How about you and Scorpius?" she asked. Their exchanges of information came rather easy now that they were close friends. "Speaking of him, where's he run off to today?" she asked curiously, not seeing him all day.

"He went to meet up with Lorcan and I guess Lysander." she shrugged and ate some more of her bread. "As for Scorpius and I we're really good....I met his parents you know...they don't seem so bad." She shrugged, not sure if she should trust her judgment. The fact that she found out her boyfriend's father was an old death eater didn't cheer her up in the least. "I still don't know if he's staying or not though..." She sighed slightly and started fumbling with her quill.

"Well one thing's for sure... if he stays, he's a keeper," she told her friend honestly. When she got an odd look Rose elaborated a little. "He's never styed before. His parents always take him somewhere out of the country for Christmas, usually somewhere expensive and really nice. So if he decides to stay, I'd say you should keep him around," she chuckeld when she finished, biting into a fruit. "His father's nice, but his mother never spoke to me that much..." she said, remembering the few times Rose and Scorpius' other friends met his parents.

Iris gave her an odd look but soon nodded. "That being the case I doubt he'll stay. Oh well, I'm not important enough to blow off family." She shrugged and took a goblet of butterbeer before drinking it slowly but without pausing. When it was finally done she put the goblet back, watched it refill, and looked at her. "Rose...I have some...internal issues, can I talk to you about them?" At the girl's reply Iris leaned in close. "Well...I have a thing against death eathers and one of Scorpius' parents was a death eater," she decided there was no point in stating which, "But...I don't know...I really like Scorpius...like...really like him. What should I do?" She frowned slightly, confused by the whole mess.

Rose gave her a friendly smile, knowing the story of Draco Malfoy. "What you don't know about that parent is that he was forced to be one," she told her riend honestly, low so the conversation was a secret one. "My parents went to school with him and hated him... yet they saved him. He doesn't follow the Dark Lord, in fact I happen to know personally that Mr. Malfoy is a member of the Order." She finished, a serious look on her face. She too took a drink, however of pumpkin juice, and set her goblet back down. "So, I think you should follow your heart... where Scorpius is concerned. Not his father..." She sat for a moment then a thought came to her that she spoke aloud to Iris. "You can't let someone that is a part of someone else's life determine how you eel about that person," she said.

Iris nodded a bit but her hands trembled slightly and she hid them under the table. "...Maybe....I....is there any evidence that the Dark Lord is back?" She finally asked what she really wanted to know. Her whole mess with Scorpius she could figure out with him, when she knew if he even cared. Now she wished he was there, she hadn't seen him for a while and she missed him truthfully. He was the first person to really talk to her, even if back then it freaked her out. "Well, lets all go out this week! You, Lysander, Lorcan, and Lianna. If you don't mind a fifth wheel. Or I'll just go with Dominique." She chuckled slightly, smiling at Rose and doubting Scorpius was going to stay.

"And Scorpius," she said firmly. "He'll stay, don't worry," she told her friend with a smile. "We know there is another Dark Lord, but we don't know who yet." She had told Iris all about the Order not long ago, having finally decided she could be trusted. She was even hoping to get Iris into the Order someday, what with her passion for it an all. Rose knew of her obsession with the Deatheaters, but she didn't completely know why, nor did she pester to know. She was fine with sharing information with Iris as long as she was on their side.

Iris smiled slightly. "Yes...I hope he does but then Dominique will be the seventh wheel! To bad there are no guys around here that she'll like." Shrugging slightly, pushing back a few strands of her hair, Iris nodded at Rose. "Could it be him? Could he have found another way to come back you think?" Iris wanted so badly to know who it was. She wanted to destroy the person who destroyed her life and her mother's happiness. Why was this continuing! Why couldn't it just stop... Iris took another sip of her drink and sighed slightly as she thought things over.

Rose shook her head. "We're positive he's not back. But just in case we are looking out for signs..." she told her friend. She wasn't looking at the doors, she was facing the opposite way, when the boys came in. "As soon as we know, I'll tell you. I promise," she said honestly, taking another drink of juice.

Scorpius gulped as he was dragged to just ouside the Great Hall. The twins had to nudge him in but he walked on his own now, fearing looking like an idiot if they dragged him any further. However the repeated secret nudges wer needed for him to make it to the table.

"Thank you." Soon after she had her arms folded on the table and her head hidden. She didn't know the boys were back until someone stirred her from her hidden thoughts.

Lorcan looked around and helped Scorpius to the table before waving at Rose and whispering to his brother. "Hey I'm out, I have something to talk to Lianna about. Have fun and don't chicken out!" He laughed before running off to find Lianna.

Lysander sat next to Rose and smiled. "Hello Love, how are you today?" He nodded to Lorcan but said nothing. His small tiger showed up and walked over to him, jumping up on his lap and rubbed his head against his chest.

Bruno had made his way into Rose's lap and was sleeping soundly, slowly changing colors like a rainbow. Rose had a hand on him, seeming to be the reason his colors were changing for, when she lifted her hand to pet Saber, he rested on that light gently teal color he had when he was content. "I'm great, you?" she asked, loving on his cub. "You're so cute," she said with a bright smile. She looked up at him. "How was Hogsmeade?" she asked him.

Scorpius said nothing as he draped his around Iris' waist. her was bending slightly oddly, his chin curling unto her shoulder gently. "Hello," he said to her, standing straight to smile nervously at her before he sat down. He wasn't going to say it loud, he was nervous and worried he might be rushing her... What if she didn't feel the same way he did? He shook loose his thought and when she looked at him he broke, unable to contain it now. "I- I love you." he told her, staring into her eyes only, and speaking in a low voice. He didn't want to embarrass her by yelling it or something.

"We ended up going to Daigon Alley." He said truthfully, not wanting to lie to her. Leaning forward and kissing her cheek, he smiled. "I'm glad we got both of them, I think they'd be very said if they didn't have each other." He kept forgetting the tigers were very similar to he and Lorcan. Some day he'd be without his brother and how would that change him?

Iris jolted slightly and sat up, smiling as she turned to him. "Hello there!" When he spoke she froze, amazed and not sure she heard him right. She swallowed hard and pushed up her glasses after a few moments of silence-between them at least. "U-um...w-what did you say?" Did he really just say that? Maybe she had to much pumpkin juice and she was imagining this...maybe she fell asleep...no way he just said that.

Scorpius swallowed hard now. her asking could mean she didn't want to hear it... No, he couldn't back out now. "I said I love you... but it doesn't mean I expect you to say so in return... whenever you're ready... and, if you're never ready, at least you'll know." he said, smiling nervously, his hand on the back of his neck.

Rose could see that thought she didn't yet know were plaguing him but she did not ask, feeling if he wanted to share his thought he would, and if not it was his right. She was okay with it. "Me too. Bruno is stuck to me like glue..." She chuckled down at him. He was still soundly sleeping, his colors changing again now that her hand was on him.

It took five, no more like three, seconds for Iris to go from normal flesh to bright red. Yeah that's what she thought he said. She turned away slightly, reached out with a shaking hand and took her drink. When she brought it to her lips she nearly spilt it before she actually got a drink. Nope; still not calm. She breathed deeply before she turned back to him, the blush just getting brighter with the moment until she swore even Rose noticed her cheeks glowing. "I-I...." Why the hell am I so shy?! I'm a veela this should be okay...I mean I've heard people say that all the time... "I-I...I..." She hated herself for stuttering and it just made her sallow hard, forcing herself to through her dry throat. Eventually she composed herself as best she could. "I...I l-love you too..." She whispered nearly silently.

Lysander smiled at her until he saw Iris turn. Looking at her he figured Scorpius either messed it up completely or told her he loved her. Either way he smiled and watched them for a minute. Who would have thought Scorpius, who seemed to be able to talk to any girl without breaking a sweat, could be so...shy and nervous! It made him laugh but he hid that for now. He'd rag on Scorpius later in the common room with Lorcan.

Scorpius almost hopped from the table and danced the jig while screaming and shuoting. It's what he was doing on the inside anyway, as he hugged her tightly, kissing her cheek. "I've... been thinking about something else... I think I will stay this winter break, if you'd like to spend some time on Christmas with me." he told her with a smile he could fight even if he wanted to, which he didn't.

Rose even glanced over her shoulder, hearing parts of their conversation. She smiled happily at the two, then turned back to Lysander. "I can't wait for you to meet my parents. Oh they're going to love you." she said both to him and to herself, placing her hands over her heart in a sight and a giggle.

Iris was still blushing horribly when he hugged her. She smiled, hugging him back, and kissed his cheek back. "Oh! Really? You mean it? I'd love it if you did and I'd love to spend Christmas with you!" She wrapped her arms around his neck and smiled more so, unable to hide her happiness now.

Lysander chuckled. "Yes I hope so. I know if they rose you they must be wonderful and I'll love them." He brushed back a few strands of her hair behind her ear and kissed her forehead. "So two days till they are here yes? I'll be sure to steal you tonight then." He whispered in her ear gently.

Micajah snuck into the great hall and started walking around. He didn't know which table he was to sit at so he decided to meet some new classmates and started for the Ravenclaw table. He bowed once he was there. "Hello..." He said in a low, dangerous tone. When he caught Iris and Rose's attention he took their hands from the table and kissed one after the other. "Very nice to see such wondervul creatures in this school. I am Micajah, I am very sorry not to ave introduced myselv sooner instead of intruding, please forgive."
