Ash Hallow's Den

Ash spent the night in pain as he attacked the walls, the chains, and himself. He eventually got free of the chains he set up and was searching, sniffing out for Victoire. He moved between attacking the bolder and eating the last of the meat he had stored in there. After the meat was gone he attacked the bolder until morning, trying to get through it. When it was time for him to change again he howled out in pain as the last transformation ended the most painful as possible. By then he was nearly passed out and just didn't want to get up. He rose anyway and lifted the bolder, barely, and found her there. Asleep or awake he picked her up and brought her once again to his chamber. This time he laid down with her and eventually passed out, unable to help it. At least he didn't hurt her again.

Victoire stayed there all night, awake. When he came out she stood up, feeling a bit better after resting. She still hurt, and considerably, but she didn't care by now. She was wearing his cloak, even as he lifted her, and she snuggled a little into him in his arms. She cuddled into him a little more when he laid down with her to sleep. She'd have to wear his cloak back to work, her own outfit beyond repair by now. He'd shredded it well enough that pieces would forever be missing so repairing it was a no-go. She was prepared to wear his cloak and pass it off as if she was wearing clothes under it until she had a chance to put some on. She didn't sleep a whole lot, spending some of the night nodding in and out, but she did lay there, tending to his wounds while he was tired enough to not wake up. Once he was cleaned up and healed Victoire just lay there still. She ached, and every movement sent sharp pain through her abdomen. It was something only time could heal, and it would heal just fine. She had no idea what was in store for her.

Ash couldn't wake up, he just couldn't. He had no strength left. By now hours had passed as she doted on his wounds and helped him. He didn't know what he had done to her but he believed it would be horrible. In fact it was probably a fact it would be horrible. By the time he woke up he noticed Victoire laying there beside him and moved to kiss her. His mouth and lips were dry but he just wanted to give her a small kiss, a small thank you. He wanted to get up but he just didn't have the energy so she closed her eyes and laid down to rest.

Victoire was still awake, laying there completely content, when he kissed her. She smiled lightly and kissed him back, but didn't press it on. She noticed he just didn't seem to have much energy to him at all at the moment, and she was more than thankful that he was able to care for her after his rough nights... nights that were rough for her as well as him this trip. She lay there and touched him softly, gently while he slept. Her hand trailed his face, felt his rough skin and whatnot... she couldn't help it. A tear fell but she wiped it away quickly. She'd never felt so strongly about another before, and even if she was to meet more night like the past few, she would not leave him... not until the day he chose Hrukjan and the child she knew nothing about over her. She would remain here until he pushed her away for good.

Ash just had no strength. He held onto her but soon drifted off again. His arm lingered over her but she could have escaped if she really wanted to. And he was ready to hold her forever if she didn't. As the day went on he felt himself getting stronger but for some reason this past change was so bad that he just couldn't wake up. And so he slept, his mind hovering over thoughts of Victoire and of the little wolf pup he had hiding away.

Victoire stayed there throughout the day, and even stayed awake as long as she could into the night. She eventually fell asleep, her body more tired than her mind, which seemed to be wide awake. When she woke the next morning, Victoire didn't move. She continued to lay there, waiting for him to rise. She moved his hair from his face and moved only her upper torso, and only enough so that she could kiss the area just to the side and above his eye. "I love you..." she whispered more to herself, assuming he was still sleeping.

Ash wasn't fully awake but he was somewhat concious. Enough to the point that when she spoke he heard her. He replied at first with a grunting noise before a growling whisper escaped him and said finally, "I love you." He never really said that to her. He said she was his, that she belonged to him and that was that. But she never really mentioned that he had emotional feelings for her. Ever really. It was probably another hour or two before Ash finally started to wake up completely and get up, his whole body stiff and tired even though his mind wasn't.

She heard it. She definitely heard it... hadn't she heard it?! He said it, he loved her. Victoire's eyes widened but lit up, and she was still smiling when he awoke finally. She had drifted back off, but woke a few minutes before him and just lay there, waiting. Briefly she thought about her glass rose... the gift he'd given her. She wasn't even sure she'd need it anytime soon, and that was a surprisingly pleasant thought.

Ash didn't know what he said by the time he woke up. By then he was focused on one thing: food. He ended up getting up, glancing at her before moving on. He had shorts on, baggy ones at that, but that was all he wore as he left his chamber to go gather some food in the other rooms. He ended up cooking some and bringing it back. He gave a small, near medium sized piece to Victoire before eating a nearly raw piece himself. He didn't say a thing as he ate it all with only the sounds of his teeth sinking into the bloody meat to be heard.

Victoire let him get out of bed, curling up a little more to get out of his way. When he left she got up off the bed, groaning a little. She still ached, but much less by now. Still he'd done quite a number on her the other night, and she didn't really want to move around a whole lot. Her body ached all over, but more so around her stomach and abdomen area. When he brought food down to her she accepted it, munching it down slowly. She'd sat up by then, and was reading the Daily Prophet. It was all there was around to read that she could see, and it was entertaining enough. She ate the whole piece of meat, but wasn't hungry for more. A small smile crossed her lips as she thought about how well he seemed to know her... then it fell to a calm resting point when she realized she really didn't eat enough to sustain any other human on the planet. Merlin, Dominique was younger and just slightly bigger than Victoire... most likely because Victoire ate like she was starving herself. That was never the case, she just... wasn't hungry... almost ever.

She didn't say anything to him either, but rather read her newspaper, folded open across her thighs [she was sitting against the headboard with her knees pulled up comfortably]. Occasionally one could hear the turning of a page, but other than that she let him enjoy his peace and quiet, content enough for now to do the same.

Ash finished his food quickly before cracking his shoulders and all the bones i his body, as well as he could at least. After he was done he go up and left without a word. What she did and where she was didn't bother or pertain to him. As far as he was concerned she could sit there all day or leave he didn't care. Eventually he went through a few passageways before slipping into a hidden hotspring and relaxing. He needed his body to relax and to get rid of the pain that rushed through him. It took a while but eventually he fell asleep in the spring.

Victoire was not likely going anywhere in nothing but his cloak... nope. She did get up when she finally finished reading the entire paper though, and walked outside. She didn't want to go far, but without shoes and without clothing [other than the cloak which she kept tightly closed] she wandered into the forest a little. She came across a fox's den and inside of it was a fox pup. Victoire looked around and saw no other animals around, but she didn't want to disturb it. Victoire hadn't a pet of her own, Jaque having died quite some time ago [her pet stork]. She looekd around, a little worried since she knew most animals didn't leave their young unattended. Victoire sat there beside a tree stump for quite some time, making random things with flowers and other pieces of the earth, while she waited to see if it's mother would come back. When it didn't, and she could see that night would fall soon, Victoire started looking around the area. Moving through a few bushes she found the body of a fox, that had been eaten partially by... well, something. She could tell it was a female, and it's color markings matched the one in the den... so she walked back to the den and lured the baby out. Between her soft nurturing voice, and her gentle aura, the fox came out after a while of her trying. She scooped it up and at first it tried to bite her. It was shaking and she could tell it was cold, and so she slipped all but its head into her cloak with her. She soft fur of the pup warmed her chest as she cuddled it on her way back. It was almost dark, and she really didn't want to piss Ash off by putting herself into a stupid, and highly dangerous situation, so she ran the rest of the way back to the cave, holding the pup close and the cloak around her.

The fox pup finally stopped trying to attack her by the time she'd made it to the cave. Victoire found food, and partially cooked it before ripping it up and feeding the small pup. It looked old enough to eat solids and quickly mowed down the meal. The bond became apparent as the fox finished its meal, then looked around. Seeing Victoire it quickly made its way back to her, its protector and savior, and curled up on her foot, looking up sadly. She lifted it yet again, and it snuggled to her. She'd most likely wait a few days to figure out its gender, and then she would name it. For now, she walked around aimlessly, clutching the small pup, and humming soft lullabies to it as it slept.

Ash eventually woke up and got out, feeling much better. He dried off and pulled his shorts back on before walking through his den, looking through things. Eventually he picked up the smell of something...else. It took him a moment to realize it was a fox. Why a fox would be so near his den...in it? He growled before stalking his way through his home. He eventually walked up behind Victoire and pulled her shoulder, forcing her to turn around. He growled and looked down at the fox. "Why did you bring it here." he said in a cold tone. He knew that fox. It was about the same age as his pup and the two were often seen down in the forest. If his pup caught the scent he'd come here and he didn't want to explain that.

Moments later he heard a tiny bark and turned to the entrance to see a small, adorable grey wolf pup sitting there, it's tail wagging, and watching both Ash and the fox. Moments later it started to run in and jumped at Victoire, trying to get to it's friend the fox. When it couldn't it turned to Ash and pawed at his leg, rubbing it's head against him affectionately. After a few moments he growled and picked the pup up, propping him on his broad shoulders before turning away to feed his son.

At the touch on her shoulder and the forceful turn he made her preform, she just held on tight to the pup so that it wouldn't fall from her arms. She looked up at him calmly, but hadn't a chance to answer him for a wolf pup wandered in. However, she did answer him, even though he turned away. She spoke calmly and loud enough for him to hear, but she didn't chase him down. "I found its mother dead not far from its den..." She looked down sadly at the fox pup. It was still sleeping, the wolf pup's bark not even enough to rouse it from sleep. She watched him walk off, and let him go. Victorie had learned that following him often led to dangerous conversations where he was mostly talking, growling, or yelling. She just felt it better not to do that. Victoire never even asked about the small wolf, assuming maybe it was a pet she didn't know about or something. Instead she just went back to her soft humming, and walking.
