Frozen Black Lake [H.P. Era]

Subject: Frozen Black Lake [H.P. Era] Sat Oct 02, 2010 9:25 am

Usually the lake is kept solid because of the giant squid but once and a while he'll let it freeze over. Now we set the ball around this time so everyone can enjoy a little skating but be careful, the merrow below like the play pranks on the skaters!

Viktor wrapped his thick cape, part of his normal uniform, around her shoulders as they walked. it was large enough to keep both of them warm and with the flurry of snow he didn't want her to get sick. His arm was around her shoulders and he held her tightly. "Cold?" He whispered before kissing her temple as he held her tightly, hoping to make sure she was warm.

"Not at all," she told him. It was a partial lie, but she wasn't much more than a little chilled. She smiled up, and leaned into him both for more warmth and just to be close to him. She couldn't see very far ahead of her... or in any other direction for that matter, but she was alright with that for now. "It's beautiful out here," she said, The mystery of what was out there enticed Hermione and her eyes came to his as the corner of her lip slid between her teeth.

Viktor moved so he was behind her and wrapped his cloak around her. Kissing her cheek he stopped her just before the lake appeared. "Hermione...thank you for coming here with me." he whispered before he looked out at the lake. "Remember when we met here?" He asked after a few moments of silence, the snow hitting them and lingering in their hair and on his shoulders.

Hemrione let out a content sigh when he moved behind her. Her hands came up to rest on his for a moment when he pulled the cloak around her shoulders. She was about to respond to him but his reminding her of their meeting made her smile and took whatever she was about to say clean away from her. "I do..." she said with a gentle smile. She couldn't see much, but she could see him, prominent in the snow. "I remember it well..." she said with a chuckle. "all those fangirls following you around hoping to snatch a piece of you..." Her eyes roamed the wild wintery white scene around her.

"I only 'ad eye for you." He said with a grin as he moved in to kiss her again. Something stopped him, however, and moments later he fell forward with his head half in the lake. He was till as a board and would have drowned if it wasn't for the face he was pulled out by the boot by someone a little ways away who was having fun playing.

"Look who it is, the filthy little muddblood and the quidditch star. he's a fool for seeing anything in your ugly rags...but then again, the ugly girls usually are the easies." Malfoy said with a sneer as he put a boot on the back of Viktor's legs and watched her squirm before him.

Hermione flushed instantly, and a sadness clutched her terribly tight. "You shut up, Malfoy." she said bitterly, a harsh tone in her voice. She gripped her wand tightly, just in case, and silently pleaded for him to leave Viktor alone. "Let him be... please." she said almost helplessly. However his words shot her straight through the heart. She had no clue why she let him get to her so badly but sh hated him for it. And she hated herself for it as well. "Oh who cares what you think..." she grumbled, her brows narrowing in a challenging way.

"You apparently do, Granger, or you wouldn't have tried this bloody change." he looked her over with inspecting eyes that seemed to catch ever detail. Every. Detail. From the curve of her breast to the slight indent where her bra pushed against the dress. Even down to where her stockings lined with her hips. He seemed to see it all and didn't mind proving it. "Give me a reason to let you walk away from this lake." He scoffed at the look on her face but his eyes were serious as his wand was out. Small, evil, horrible little plans popped into his head one by one.

Hermione's glare was still in place, even as she moved a step or two closer and spoke. "What the bloody hell do you want?" she asked him, not really caring what the answer was. Truthfully, she just wanted to know why he tormented her all the time. What was his fascination with her pain!? She glared harder at his request... no, his demand. "What makes you think I'm under your control, Malfoy." Oh man, that mouth of hers was going to get her into trouble one day. She just hoped it wouldn't now. She shook her head and her hands. "I didn't change for you, you pig," she spat distastefully, unable to control her hatred at the moment. "I changed for me... and- and I'm not easy!"

Malfoy was no longer listening. As she spoke and tried to defend herself in her flustered way he had closed the space between them. Seconds later that unforgettable sound of a bony hand hitting flesh echoed over the ice. His hand didn't even smart as he watched Hermione recoil. Not giving her a chance to get back up, Draco bent down and grabbed her hair, pulling it back in his hand and making sure it hurt her. Just to be safe he moved is foot to step on her hand, holding down her wand. "Your going to shut you you filthy mudblood, before I give you to Crab and Goyle as a new play thing!"

Hermione gasped an fell, her hand moving to cup the cheek he'd backhanded. She curled instantly, not this, she pleaded in her head. She heaved, tears falling from her eyes as she tried hard not to sob. She was winning the battle for now, though she could not fight the ever flowing tears "What do you want...?..." she pleaded with him, begging for some sort of answer. She had no clue why he enjoyed this so much, but she wanted it to end, prayed for it to end. "Please..." she begged again, her hand moving to the hand he had wrapped tightly in her curly hair.

"You need to learn manors, you filthy heven!" He slapped her again but this time, because of his hand, her face didn't get to reflect the blow. Pulling her hair and shaking her slightly, Malfoy tossed her away from him and made her body slide onto the thin ice of the lake. he watched her scramble for a while as he picked up her waned and pocketed it before he started to play with his own, making an ice cage around her and watching her weep before making her tears freeze as well.

Hermione sobbed a little, unable to help herself. She would never give in to him, though she regretted it for the numbness her face now felt. She gave Viktor's frozen form a pleading look as she slid far enough out to just barely be able to see them now. She screamed a little, his cage of ice shrouding her and freezing the saline tears she wept to her face, which stung still. She stopped crying abruptly though when she heard a terrifying crrrrraaaack underneath her. She closed her eyes tightly, not wanting to plead with the Slytherin Prince, and let out another strong sob as another crrruuuunch sounded. A spiderweb of cracks split across the ice underneath her, melting under the body heat she produced. She did not scream as the icy water sucked her down, but she only fought for a moment before the frozen lake crushed her lungs and shocked her body.Slowly she lost consciousness and a few bubbles rose to the surface as Hermione Granger gave up for the first time in her life.

Malfoy, who had moved to look down into the hole her body created, waited dangerously long enough until he was sure she had learned what she needed to; she couldn't always fight. Then, thrusting his hand into the icy water, he grabbed her arm and pulled her back up. One thing he didn't anticipate, however, was her lungs closing. Cursing, he brought her back to the land and pulled off her jacket before tilting her head back. "If anyone ever learns about this i'll rip your lips off, hear me muggle?" He hissed before pressing his lips to hers and forcing air into her lungs.

Hermione didn't respond. Her lips were blue, turning purple, and her body was not moving. After a few breaths from Draco however, she began coughing and spluttering, her body curling into a freezing ball. When she realized she was in Malfoys hands, she moved away quickly, her ice cold body shivering madly as she curled up in the snow, gasping for breath. Hermione could cry no more tears at the moment, her body was too frozen. She couldn't even think at the moment, and could barely register that it was malfoy that had saved her. Though she felt no thanks since it was his fault she'd gone under anyway. She just feebly tried to back up her frigid body, forgetting about the jacket that was now soaked. Her wet hair clung to her shoulders, which were beginning to look blue along with the rest of her, and made her look completely helpless, though she would not ask for it. Truthfully, she was too afraid at this moment.

"See, you can't change a thing. Your hair's still a frizzy mess and your appearance only held the outside for hours nothing more." He pointed his wand at her, ignored her fear, and dried her cloths before taking off his jacket and throwing it at her. "Stop looking half dead before i throw you back in." He threatened in a way that made it sound like he wished he could. He started for the forest's edge again. "Your little fool will wake up soon, tell whoever you want nothing's going to change. It'll just prove your too afraid to fight for yourself anyway" Oh how he loved to hurt her and he didn't care to know why.

She didn't want his jacket, didn't even want to touch the thing at all. However she was clod, freezing actually, and pulled it around herself against her better judgment. However, probably to his dismay, when he dried her her hair went back to the way she had it for the ball, soft ringlets. It was no longer up, but she had permanently fixed it. She almost wanted to laugh and say "haha!" but she didn't dare. She couldn't, she was still shivereing though she managed to stand up. Her dress clung t her, and even with the makeup gone her hazel eyes stood out. She'd groomed her brows and lashes and they too did not look ugly at all. Truthfully she was a pretty girl, but Hermione let herself be fooled by his words, as always. She stood silent for a moment, looking away from him. Finally she began searching for her wand. "May I have my wand?" she asked him quietly, as if asking someone superior. She would not look up at him, not out of respect [though she wouldn't mind if he took it that way at this point], but out of fear and tiredness. She was tired of fighting with him for the night and just wanted to skip out on the rest of the dance and go to bed.

By the time her hair was dried and her face was seen he had turned and left, not caring in any sense. When he heard her voice he didn't even stop as he pulled her wand out and tossed it back toward her. It went over her head, hit Viktor, and slipped into the lake. Hearing it splash the water, Malfoy laughed and exited the scene with a triumphant smirk on his face.

Hermione glared daggers into the Slytherin's back, though frozen tears fell from her quivering eyes. Once he was gone she sighed deeply, threw his jacket straight into the lake, and moved to Viktor's form. She searched his pockets quickly, much smarter than that git gave her credit for. Once she'd found it, she pointed it directly into the lake where her own wand had fallen and muttered bitterly, "Accio Wand." It flew from the lake and into her hand, though she dropped the icy magic stick instantly. Cursing under her breath, Hermione bent and picked her wand up. She waited until Viktor awoke, having already placed his wand back into his pocket. "V-V-Viktor?" she said in a small trembling voice. She had forgotten about the fear she felt, the cold seeming to freeze her lungs within her chest. She clutched at it, gasping a little. Her lips had gone blue and her teeth chattered together in little clicks. "Viktor." she said again, this time a little more forcefully. when finally he stirred she gave him a very weak smile. "Can we go inside?" she asked him. Malfoy, it seemed, had put her into a temporary state of inferiority and fear.

Viktor jumped up and wrapped his arms around her without another thought. He didn't care about what had happened to him, all he knew was she was in ruins and he wasn't going to let her stay like that. Picking her up, he swiftly started back toward the castle.

Hermione was shivering, her frozen arms draped around his neck as she lay her head on his chest. She cried no more tears, and tried her best to forget about what had just happened. What was going to happen when she told Harry and Ron?... Was she going to tell them...?...

Without giving it another thought, Viktor ignored the ball and went up to the Griffindor Tower. He waited until they were outside the Fat Lady's portrait to kiss her forehead. "'Ermione...'ere, go rest and warm up...I am sorry I did not protect you..."

"Hermione was a little surprised, but also thankful. She just would prefer to be alone for the remainder of the night. However his apology made her feel bad. 'No, no. It wasn't your fault, he likes to torture us muggle-borns... You couldn't have seen him coming, neither of us did. Please don't blame yourself, I thank you for tonight." She gave him a kiss on the cheek, gazing at him softly.
