Castle Walls

Subject: Castle Walls Sat Sep 25, 2010 5:10 pm

Normally locked so the students can't get to them, there are secret ways onto these hidden paths. Most don't know how to get around up here but for those that do its a magical area perfect for seeing the sunset. The ghosts are keeping watch up here but other than that this is one of the most deserted areas of the castle.

Dominique followed Eric until they got to the door he had shown her months before. Smiling slightly he let him lead her, by the hand which she hadn't seemed to notice, through the door and to the castle walls. He was right, she felt better already.

Eric led Dominique from the ball, through the halls and took a quick turn. A turn he knew she'd be familiar with. He pulled her behind a tapestry, tugging his wand from his shirt sleeve, tapping the stone four times and whispering a wizard lullaby line to it. Once the wall opened he reached down instinctively, and pulled her by the hand through the passage. Within moments they had reached another door, after a flight of stairs, to which he also pulled her through. Once down a hall and through another door to another flight of stairs, Eric opened the door to the top of the wall, and led her out. Once outside, he closed it and the door sank into the wall, disappearing for now. He smiled at her, and let go of her hand, turning to the view. It was a blizzard outside, and he pulled his jacket tighter. "Is it too cold for you?" he asked her kindly. When she answered him he smiled again. "Good. How about that jig then?" he asked, now grinning a little.

Dominique shook her head and smiled, covering her eyes slightly with her black sleeves. Laughing softly she nodded. "yes lets! Come on then, teach me what to do." Her eyes shined as the snow flew past, her messy hair flipping around her head and glowing with those golden strands and bloody strands. She looked like a painting the way her dress flowed with the fur of her coat. It was like she wasn't real and yet she was there, waiting for his direction. The ball bellow meant nothing now, it was just the two talking and teaching each other secrets that no one else needed to know outside the pair.

Eric smiled heartily, though he didn't move for a moment. He most certainly saw they way she looked and he wanted a mental snapshot of this moment. Once he could paint later on, or perhaps derive inspiration from it if nothing else. "Alright," he finally said, snapping back to himself as it seemed. "For starters, you're going to stand with your feet together, your arms back behind you, yeah like that." he was pleased at how quickly she caught onto things. "Then we'll..." he proceeded to teach her the steps slowly, step by step by step, until he had taught her part of the river dance. Then, before trying it with her, he actually danced the part he'd taught her. "And it should look like... this...." he said, hopping about and kicking one leg after the other. He knew he probably looked ridiculous, but Eric didn't care. He was one hundred percent Irish and he was not the least bit ashamed. Of course, she was his only friend allowed to see his energetic side, none before her had seen him hop about in such a way.

Laughing slightly, in a way that it was easy to figure she was laughing at the fun they were having rather then his movements, Dominique nodded. "Like...this?" She tried the move and stumbled a bit, falling against him. Laughing a little more she stood again and brushed some snow from her dress. "Alright, not like that...let me try again!" She said, determined to learn the dance. After a few more tries she had it down and was dancing a skillful river dance as if she had been taught since childhood. "How's this?" She said modestly, as if she thought herself still doing badly in the dance. "I'm not sure I have the best footing..." She said as she watched her feet during the movement.

Eric laughed with her, but he caught her and helped her to straighten up. He held her hands up, not letting her let go until he saw she was doing better, which didn't take much time at all. "Wonderful!" he exclaimed, unable to hide how proud he was. He moved to stand next to her. "Now for the harder part..." he said, taking her hand. He moved them slowly, together as a line would, into the bridge of the dance. Once he had gone through it a few times with her he let her do it on her own, smiling happily. He laughed with joy while he clapped his hands in a beat. First a slow on, then he sped up a little. The blizzard whipping around them silenced his claps so none but her could hear them. His laugh and her laugh and all of their words were the same. he moved to her again, now dancing with her as if they had been long time dancers together. He clapped all the while, laughing and hopping around with her. "You're very good," he said loudly while they danced. "Natural born dancer... natural born singer... Merlin, Dominique is there anything you can't do?" he said in a very non-Eric way. He was normally reserved and quiet and calm, though now he was having a blast with her.

A small smile crossed her lips and she chuckled. "Truthfully I don't like singing but mother had us trained in that...and I can only do this because your a wonderful teacher!" She said, clapping with him as they danced together in a new and fun way. "As for what I can't do...I'm dread full at transfigurations!" Grinning, Dominique let the snow swirl around them, the chill making her rub her arms even though she had a jacket on. It was getting colder and the snow was piling up until....where had the door gone? Where had anything gone?! Bloody hell, the snow had piled up around them until they were boxed in on part of the wall.

Eric finally stopped dancing, seeing her rub her arms. He pulled his jacket off and slipped it over her shoulders. He wore a large sweade coat, but his outfit had long sleeves anyway. "Yeh look'd a bit chilly," he said in a friendly tone, smiling at her a little. Then, and only then, did his eyes finally take in the scenery... or lack there of it around them. "Bloody hell..." he said, though he didn't grumble or anything of the sort. He smiled at her. "Looks like we're stuck here for the night," he said with a playful grin. He was of course kidding, they could get back one way or another. "I'm kidding," he said at her look, laughing a little. "We can dig a tunnel to the wall where the door is, or build a fire here and stay. Up to you," he told her. The sun had gone down and the night sky was the only thing separating the white from everything else. Eric stood there, the snow whirling around him and her, and he waited patiently for his answer, not showing his being cold whatsoever.

Dominique snuggled under his jacket, genuinely cold and thankful for his kindness. "Thank you." She murmured as her arms slipped through the sleeves of the jacket. When he said they were stuck she had a look of horror. Not that she'd mind, so to say, but the two would freeze eventually! She didn't want him getting sick because he was kind to her anyway. When he exclaimed he was joking she took a relaxed breath. "Oh don't leave such things up to me!" She mumbled with a shake of her head, making the snow that had fallen there drip off her hair. "I don't care but quick with the fire before you catch your death!!!" She frowned and moved closer to him. "Oh don't go about being kind and getting sick yourself." Pulling out her wand she made a fire appear in it that was safe to the touch. It wasn't very big but it was enough to keep the two warm. She moved so she was closer to him, her shoulder against his chest, and held the fire between them.

Eric laughed a little, he liked the cold. Not that he liked it.... this cold. "Thank you," he said. He pulled his wand out and swirled it in the air as he mumbled a short spell to make the wind blow the snow around them in a dome shape, similar to the spell used in the Ballroom and carriages. He smiled at her and held his hands up to her fire. He knew he could create a bigger one, but he wasn't one for topping people, especially not his friends or those he held close. he simply smiled warmly and let her warm him. He didn't want to go back, not yet. He was enjoying his time with her too much and he knew that if they went back they would go separate ways for bed. However, after a few moments he felt much too selfish to keep her out there any longer. "Per'aps we should go inside," he told her gently, his voice quivering a little.

"Only if you want to...Oh but keep warm either way!" She was sure he'd catch a cold now and she was prepared to yell at him if he did so. As the snow got worse she felt nearly knocked off her feet and leaned against him a bit more. "Sorry..." She mumbled before standing a bit straighter. "It's getting icy up here!" She chuckled before slipping out of his coat and handing it to him. "Warm up before my temper starts melting us both!" She said with a mock glare and a smirk on her lips.

[cener]Eric caught her as she leaned into him suddenly.He accepted the coat but when she straightened he moved closer to her, so she was against him but barely, and he wrapped the large sweade coat around them both. It was left open where teh fire was, but created a small pocket of warmth for them in the wild blizzard raging outside now. " How's that?" he asked in a kind voice. Her looked down at her, unable to help the small smile he gave her. Her eyes just jumped at him and he was compelled to do something that was forced of him earlier that night. His smile twitched but only a teeny bit, and he looked out into the night. He wasn't prepared to throw away a friendship with her for his craving.[/center]

Another mock glare answered his question but the fire that was held so near made her eyes explode with colours of all shades in golds and reds, even the green found a place. "I suppose this is fine." She joked before looking down, after he looked away, at the fire. A blistering wind came and she moved closer to him, not meaning to. "Sorry..." She mumbled again after she moved away a little bit. He smelt really good. Shaking her head slightly, Dominique cursed herself. She shouldn't be thinking about that! So what if he had a really rich smell that made her want to close her eyes and just lean a little bit- NO! She had to think of something else. This conflict went on within her for a bit but she didn't let it show on the outside.

Eric felt compelled to kiss her, he couldn't help it. He fought it though, turning and pointing his wand where the door would be. The snow blew away forcefully, causing the sind to put out her fire, but it didn't matter. He gave her a small smile, put his wand away, and slipped out from under the coat, leaving it on her shoulders. He moved to the wall before her, tapping the bricks and muttering under his breath. The door appeared slowly and slid aside, granting them entrance. "C'mon," he offered her his hand, pulling her gently inside as the door closed. "You'll be warmer in here." He put his hand up when she tried to give him back his coat. "Keep it until you warm up a bit. I've got sleeves, remember?" he said with a grin. He led them back slowly, taking his time rather than hurrying them along. "Well, thank you for dancing with me," he told her, smiling a friendly smile. He was trying to let the awkwardness slip away unnoticed, hoping it may.

What was that feeling...a tinge of...sorrow? Dominique felt sorry they were leaving, but why? Bloody this was annoying. Ignoring the feeling all together she smiled and walked with him. "Oh fine, but do take it before we separate in case you disappear on me again!" She whined as she kept the coat hanging heavily from her shoulders. As they walked she moved quite gracefully, the shadows playing on her form as if she were a spirit once more roaming the turning passage. "No thank you for teaching me! I had a splendid time." She said softly as a grin turned into a small smile during their walk.

"You're such =a quick learner," he said to her, his thick Irish accent playing with his words. "I enjoy teaching you," he told her gently. As they reached the wall that held the tapestry they would part ways at, he stopped. He finally took his jacket, but he lingered around her for a moment. He eyed her wonderful hair for a moment beore letting out a slow breath and stepping away from her carefully.

After giving him the jacket she went about trying to fix her hair, her eyes closed and her body facing the wall. When her arms fell to her sides again, slowly, she opened her eyes and turned from him just as he stepped away. A few moments of silence was held by their gazes connecting and her smile broadening. "....Thank you for the wonderful evening Eric." She said in a slow, musical tone.

"No." he told her, holding his hand up. As he moved to her again, his hand flipped palm side up. When she placed her hand in his he smiled down at her slightly. "Thank you, for everything you've done for me since we've met. You're.... a wonderful friend, and a beauty anyone would be lucky to have on their arm." He smiled, a tiny hint of sadness gleaming in his eyes. Oh how he wanted to - No, Eric. No. He couldn't, he'd loose her friendship and he couldn't risk that... "Dominique," he said in a low voice, as if afraid if he spoke much louder the words would shatter in the air. "Thank you for bein' so wonderful." he finally said, forcing another smile.

Giving him a sideways glance, Dominique slowly rose her hand until it was in his and watched him closely, wondering what he was getting at. Smiling and closing her eyes, her head tilting to the side and making her seem far more innocent then her hot-headed personality normal showed off. "Well then I guess your the only one lucky in the school." And with that she opened her eyes and a pale, unnoticable blush cross her cheeks. "Erm I mean...well..." Gah! Stupid tongue! She wanted to take her wand and cut the blood muscle out. Closing her eyes tightly, as if it would all go away, she silenced for a moment before taking a deep breath. "Ooooh...sorry I don't know what's come over me..." she mumbled, trying to regain her composer." Her head stayed tilted down, her bangs falling forward and hiding her face as she nibbled on her bottom lip.

At her words, Erics eyes widened a little. Everything he'd been thinking left his mind as if on cue, and he acted on his male instincts. His fingers curled around her hand, and his other hand moved to beg her head to tilt back again. When she was looking up at him he gave her a genuine look of seriousness. There was no smile, at least not coming from his lips. However his eyes twinkled with a smile for sure. "I would be the luckiest man in the world to have you," he told her honestly. His freckles flickered in the torchlight of the passageway and a small draft blew his bangs to the side, leaving his eyes completely bare for her to see.

That blush slowly deepened until even her perfectly tanned skin was bright pink and burning deeper. She felt like a fool, letting that slip, and this wasn't making things any better. "I-I doubt that..." She mumbled softly as she glanced up into his eyes, letting him capture her gaze. The torchlight was burning on her cheeks, making her tan skin shine and the blush grow a little deeper in colour. Not to mention her eyes were dancing with the firelight in them.

Eric stayed perfectly still for a moment, his hand still resting under her chin. His thumb very slowly moved to gently caress the length of her jaw, his hand sliding into her hair. He couldn't help it anymore, he just had to! Eric pulled her head toward his gently, moving at the same time to her. He planted his lips on hers hurriedly, as if he would have if not at that moment. His eyes closed and his lips parted hers but only a little and he kept his tongue to himself. After a long kiss he pulled his lips from hers and searched her eyes for a reaction. His hand slipped from her hair and dropped to his side. "I'm sorry... I..." he stumbled in a voice no higher than a whisper.

As Eric's hand slid into her hair Dominique shivered slightly, watching him with slightly wide eyes. As her head was pulled forward she didn't fight it but that didn't mean her eyes didn't widen. When their lips met she couldn't help it. Her eyes fluttered and eventually closed as well. Feeling her lips parting she shivered slightly, not sure what was going to happen or why this was happening. She had to admit one thing; she liked this. After the kiss her eyes fluttered open once more only to meet his gaze. She swallowed and looked up at him in confusion. That changed when he apologized. "Its okay....um..." her voice was that same whisper and she didn't know what to say or do. It wasn't like she disliked that...it was just...well she didn't know what she was suppose to do now.

Eric cleared his throat. She was a hard lass to read, and he didn't want to misread things, no sir. He gave her a small smile. "I suppose it's time for bed." he said to her lightly, opening the passageway. He offered his hand to her, leading her from the secret way he'd shown her months before. He walked with her, in a slightly awkward silence, all the way to the portrait of the Fat Lady. "This is where we part," he told her, though he knew she knew. He wished he could recover better, but he just wasn't sure how she felt. He still had her hand, for some reason they hadn't let go the whole walk. "Erm, Dominique?" Once he knew he had her full attention, he sighed a little. "If I made yeh uncomfortable, I'm terribly sorry." After he was silence for a moment he spoke again. "Goodnight, lass," he said, bending to kiss her cheek as he had before, in a friendly way.
